I’ve meant to do this for some time now, but it just kept slipping my mind.
The free edition of “Progenitor 1” is out there on a lot of sites, and it’s always a pleasure to see the read counters going up on those sites. The only tedious thing is trying to convince the various sites that I should be able to update the story as my writing skills regain their luster and polish. Unfortunately, some sites don’t care for updates and there are some truly embarrassing typos out there.
To that end, while I’m not taking down the free versions anywhere, I am now going to host a version on my own site, which is the same as the commercial eBook version for the parts of the story which were covered in the free edition. The commercial version contains about 2/3rds new content, and that content isn’t in the free edition. But this is, hands-down, the best-edited version of the free story which I’ve ever released; it also contains a summary of events taking place between Progenitor 1 and Progenitor 2. And it’s released right on my own site!
I’ve also set up a dedicated page just for “Progenitor 1”. It seems that some of the companies selling my eBooks were understandably annoyed that the picture links on my right column were all Amazon links, which gives Amazon somewhat of an unfair advantage vs the other booksellers. So, I’m in the process of creating my own page for each individual book, which then links to all of the stores where my eBooks are for sale, so that the readers may decide where they’d rather buy from. It’ll be a while before I’ve got them all moved into separate pages, but in the end I think this will be the best route.
