Finished re-organizing my stories

Now each of my stories has its own separate page

I recently realized that the fairest way to arrange my stories, both to the publishers and to the readers, is for each story to have its own page, where I list all of the retailers which carry them.

Before, I’d been perpetuating a self-fulfilling prophecy by making all the links to my stories go to either Amazon or Smashwords.  This kind of ensured that the lion’s share of sales would continue to go to those two vendors.  While I have nothing against them, I also have nothing against Barnes & Noble, iTunes, Kobo, Scribd, or All Romance eBooks.  I’d rather link to all of them and let my readers decide which provider makes them the happiest.

Therefore, all my story links from now on will be to pages on haramiru.com.  Hadn’t thought about it, but that might even improve my web stats too.  I’ll report on this later on once I’ve collected enough data for this to be interesting.

The free versions of my stories are also being updated.

Now that I’ve got the story page split-out finished, my next task is to publish the free stories I’ve previously been linking to on external sites, in eBook format on this site.  This provides my readers with convenient links to the next story in the series, and me with a better feel for how many of my stories are being downloaded.  For instance, “Progenitor 1” and “She Only Wore a Shirt to the Funeral” are both now downloadable straight from haramiru.com like so:

Progenitor 1, Free PDF Edition
Progenitor 1, Free PDF Edition
She Only Wore a Shirt to the Funeral PDF
She Only Wore a Shirt to the Funeral PDF

I think I should be done with this project this weekend, and then I’ll get back to work on my normal writing.

The “Annoying Reasons I’m Not Writing As Quickly” section

Since losing my glasses a few weeks ago, I’ve been using contact lenses.  Unfortunately, this means that at a certain part of the night, my eyes dry out and I pretty much have to go to bed – and even worse, those late nights are usually when I write.  So, there hasn’t been too much progress lately, and I know if I were to go buy a new set of glasses, I’ll immediately find the old set.  I swear, the next time I go to the optometrist I’m going to get a couple of sets just so that I have spares.  Never really lost glasses before, but this is annoying.
